Community Concerts
A full-length (1 hour to 90 minutes) concert of traditional Appalachian music, including songs from the early Child collections to more recent Appalachian compositions, with historical information and appropriate anecdotes.

Interested in exploring the possibility of hosting a Jennifer Rose performance?  Here is a summary of some of the different types of bookings Jennifer normally accepts.

Jennifer performs widely in schools, churches, universities, festivals and concert halls across the eastern United States and western Europe.   Prices vary according to distance and venue, and block bookings are encouraged to help keep your costs down.

Universities
A one-hour "lecture recital" presentation on Appalachian music and its roots, plus appearances at up to three classes as a guest lecturer on Appalachian and American folk traditions.
Church Concerts
A 60-minute concert of traditional Appalachian religious music, interspersed with both serious and humorous historical facts about the music.
- - - Or - - -
A 90-minute concert of traditional Appalachian music with intermission; the first half sacred and the second secular.

Josie, A Mountain Portrait
An original theatrical composition by Jennifer Rose, 75 minutes plus intermission.   Josie, who is fourteen years old at the beginning of the show and fifty at the end,   is a fictional character made from stories Jennifer heard from her mother and other Appalachian women.  Josie's telling of her story is mixed with plenty of singing, of course.  This production is perfect for community theater and university events.

NEW!!

These 24 songs are safe and enjoyable for young and old alike. Divided into Sing-Alongs and Sleepy Songs, this CD is perfect for rambunctious times, bedtime and every time in between. It was released in early 2006, just in time for the 200th birthday of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and also includes childhood favorites like Hole in the Bucket, Hush Little Baby, and The Barnyard Song.
A booklet of Lyrics and Recollections about these songs is available for purchase.

Some of the earliest songs Jennifer remembers learning; from the English ballad Johnny has gone for a Soldier, to Jennifer's own Pine Mountain Lullaby, to the silly Catalina Magdalena and other songs that Jennifer learned from her father and siblings on the long trips to the beach when she was a child.

Something Olde - the best of Jennifer's first recording, Our Songs, now no longer available - and Something New - two Jennifer Rose originals plus several others Jennifer hadn't recorded before.  Selections include Dance of Love, Star of the County Down, and Black Waters

Beyond the Starlit Skies:  Age-old hymns for the new millennium.  Twenty-one traditional hymns, including Bound for the Promised Land, Twilight is Stealing, Be Thou My Vision, and Simple Gifts, sensitively accompanied on guitar or dulcimer, or sung a capella.

The best of the Christmas spirit in song, from Appalachian and ancient Celtic carols to classical favorites, this is Jennifer at her best in both her musical worlds. Selections span five languages and include O, Holy Night; The Cherry Tree Carol; The Coventry Carol; The Holly and the Ivy and Silent Night.

We have retired "Kentucky Home Tonight," Jennifer's first CD release, recorded in 1995. A few are still in stores, but there will not be any more produced. It rests in the archives with the four cassette recordings Jennifer produced in the early 1990's, and is survived by the five recordings you see on this page. The word is that the title song, Jennifer's first composition ever recorded, will be re-released on an all-original CD in the next couple of years. "Shady Grove" and "What'll I do with the Baby-O" are included on the latest release, "Songs of My Childhood." Congratulations to those of you who have a "Kentucky Home Tonight" CDor cassette - it is now a Collector's Item!
